Hold my matA gentle stretching hour with young dogs loose on the floor around you. This page walks through the minutes of a Bali class, who may join and what to read in a listing before you pay.

Start with this
Puppy yoga is a yoga class where young dogs wander the room while you stretch. Nobody is asking the puppies to hold a pose. They sniff, tumble, nap on a spare mat or climb into a lap, and the instructor keeps the movements slow enough that a small animal underfoot does not turn the class into a scramble.
The Bali version on this site is a Hatha class, the unhurried style built on held postures and breathing. The Ubud and Uluwatu listing describes light stretching, hip openers and spinal elongation, which is the kind of programme that works on a floor shared with puppies, because nothing in it needs a leap or a fast transition.
That makes it a different thing from a studio workout. Do not expect to sweat through a sequence or to get a long, undisturbed savasana. The point of the hour is the company, and the yoga is the frame that gets a group of strangers sitting calmly on the floor together. If you want serious practice in Ubud, the guide to yoga classes in town covers the studios, and this page stays with the puppies and with puppy yoga classes like this one.

From-prices; the two listings are separate products with separate rules.
The listing splits its single hour into three parts. You arrive and settle in for about 10 to 15 minutes, meet the puppies and take in the surroundings. The yoga itself runs for about 40 to 45 minutes. The last 10 to 15 minutes are free play, cuddling and photographs. Put together, that fills the hour the listing advertises.
The same listing asks you to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start, so the settling-in time is on top of that early arrival and not a way to turn up late. A session that begins on time ends on time, and a late guest simply misses the opening minutes while the puppies are at their calmest.
Because the order is yoga first and play second, many guests find the puppies drift towards them during the stretching and then settle in laps for the final quarter hour. Plan photographs for that last stretch and keep your phone away during the yoga, the way you would in any class.
How the hour is spent
The upper figure of each range the listing states; the hour itself is 1 hour.
Adults and children can join. The Ubud and Uluwatu listing says sessions suit adults and children aged 6 and up, and it asks parents of a younger child to enquire in advance through WhatsApp before booking. Another Bali puppy class, in Canggu and Uluwatu, sets a much stricter rule: it states that children under 16 cannot join a regular session.
That difference is worth a moment of your time if you travel with a family. The two classes look alike from the outside, and the age line is the first thing that separates them. The kids page on this site goes through what a young child and a teenager each get from the hour.
The listing also asks you to mention allergies or health concerns, especially anything to do with animals, and to dress for the weather when the class is held outdoors. If anyone in your group reacts to dog hair, say so while booking, not on the mat.

Every puppy yoga class raises the same question, and it deserves a straight answer: where do the animals come from and what happens to them afterwards? The Canggu and Uluwatu listing states that its puppies are not the provider's own, that they come from animal protection associations or partner family breeders, and that they are being socialised before moving to permanent homes.
The Ubud and Uluwatu listing is less specific about origin. It says part of the ticket price, 10 percent, goes to shelters and puppies in Bali. We found no statement from the operator naming where the animals come from, so the honest position is that this is something to Ask first, book second.
Outside Bali, welfare groups are blunter. RSPCA Australia says animals in such classes are sometimes as young as 6 weeks old and are parted from their mothers.4 Italy banned puppies in yoga classes in 2024.5 The ethics page sets those warnings next to what the Bali listings say.

After the hour
The listing shows 185 reviews, rated 4.73, to help the next guest decide.
It is not a rescue visit, and it is not a petting zoo with stretching bolted on. The animals are young and tire quickly, and the staff set the pace. If a puppy wants to sleep, the sensible thing is to let it sleep and carry on with your breathing. Guests who treat the hour as a quiet, slightly silly stretch with company usually leave happier than guests who arrive with a fixed idea of how many cuddles they are owed.
It is also not a substitute for a teacher who watches your alignment. With animals in the room, an instructor's attention is split, and the programme is chosen to be forgiving. The listing's own wording keeps to light stretching, hip openers and spinal elongation. Treat the hour as an introduction to the feeling of a class, a pleasant way to ease into a holiday morning, not as training.
And it is not risk free for the animals. RSPCA Australia says young animals are often passed around with little choice about when and how they interact with participants.6 The easiest way to respect that is to sit still, let the puppy come to you, and put it down the moment it wriggles.

they need long periods of uninterrupted sleep, gentle and predictable socialisation, and regular feeding schedules to support their immune systems and growth.
A puppy is soft and a puppy can bite or scratch, usually by accident. In Indonesia that carries a serious health angle. The US Centers for Disease Control says dogs infected with rabies are commonly found in Indonesia, and it advises travelers to avoid unfamiliar dogs and cats.7,8
A class is a controlled setting, and the organisers choose the animals, but you should still know what to do if skin is broken. The World Health Organization says anyone bitten or scratched by a potentially rabid animal should wash the wound with water and soap for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.9 Rabies vaccines are typically available across most of Indonesia if an exposure happens.10
That is no argument against going to the class. It is a reason to ask the organiser about the puppies' vaccination, to keep small children from rough handling, and to tell your travel doctor before you leave that you plan to be around animals. Report any scratch to the staff on the spot.
Three things separate one Bali puppy class from another: the location, the age rule and the setting. The site's own listing names two meeting points, one in Ubud and one in Uluwatu, and it says the exact address arrives after booking, so you cannot choose a neighbourhood by looking at the map first.
Cancellation is the other practical check. Cancelling at least 24 hours ahead returns the full fare, and you can hold a slot now and pay afterwards, which gives you time to sort out the rest of your plans. Look at the same two lines on every listing you compare.
The price is the last line to read, and it is a starting figure. The Ubud and Uluwatu class starts from $40 and the Canggu and Uluwatu class from $31, and the booking page calculates the exact total for your date and group size. The price page here breaks down what moves the number.
