Answer two questions

Puppy yoga in Ubud, Canggu or Uluwatu: which class goes where?

The hour in brief

Puppy yoga in Ubud is on the Ubud and Uluwatu listing, puppy yoga in Canggu is on the Canggu and Uluwatu listing, and Uluwatu is on both.

Rules that differ

  • Children aged 6 and up join the Ubud class
  • Canggu keeps under-16s out of a regular session
  • The exact address arrives after booking

1Where will you be sleeping?

Bali has more than one puppy yoga class, and the towns in their names do not line up. This guide sorts out which listing covers Ubud, which covers Canggu, who can join each and what to weigh before choosing.

Start with this

  • UbudOnly the Ubud and Uluwatu listing lists an Ubud meeting point, called Puppy Yoga in Ubud.
  • UluwatuBoth listings reach Uluwatu; ours names the venue as TheSpace.
  • CangguOnly the Canggu and Uluwatu listing covers Canggu, and it has no Ubud class.
  • AgesChildren aged 6 and up join the first; the second keeps under-16s out of a regular session.
  • FaresFrom $40 for Ubud and Uluwatu and from $31 for Canggu and Uluwatu.

Why the names are confusing

Search for puppy yoga in Bali and you meet listings that name two or three towns at once. The one this site books is called Puppy Yoga in Bali, Ubud and Uluwatu. A larger one is called Canggu and Uluwatu Puppy Yoga Class. Uluwatu appears in both, Ubud only in the first and Canggu only in the second.

The overlap is easy to misread. A guest who wants Ubud and books the larger listing will find no Ubud class in it, and a guest who wants Canggu will not find it in ours. Neither site is wrong; they are two products with different meeting points, different rules and different crowds.

This page takes the three towns in turn, says what each listing states, and leaves the choice to your own plans. We sell the Ubud and Uluwatu class, and we say so plainly, but the bigger listing is the right pick for some guests and we describe it fairly.

Ubud: the class this site books

The Ubud and Uluwatu listing names a meeting point called Puppy Yoga in Ubud, and says the exact address and directions arrive after booking. It is a 1 hour class with an English-speaking instructor, and the hour runs from a short arrival block through gentle Hatha yoga to puppy playtime.

If you are staying in Ubud, this is the class that does not ask you to cross the island. Indonesia Travel advises exploring Ubud on foot or on a hired bicycle or motorbike, and warns that the terrain is hilly.1 For a family it also has the more generous age rule, since children aged 6 and up are welcome and parents of younger ones are asked to write first through WhatsApp.

The listing says 10 percent of ticket sales go to shelters and puppies in Bali. It does not say where the puppies come from, and the ethics page treats that gap as the first question to ask the organiser. We found no review count to match the bigger class: 185 reviews rated 4.73, against 1,008 rated 4.84.

Uluwatu: the town both listings share

Uluwatu is the only place where the two listings meet. Our listing names a second meeting point, Puppy Yoga in Uluwatu, with a venue called TheSpace, and the larger listing is built around Canggu and Uluwatu. If your base is on the south coast, either one can work for you, and the choice then falls to age rules, price and how the listing treats its puppies.

The bigger listing's meeting point is the front of a hotel, where a host guides you a few metres to the studio. The one on our site sends the exact address after booking. Neither gives you a street to type into a taxi app before you pay, so plan the transfer after the booking is confirmed.

A day that includes the south coast and Ubud is a long one. Ubud sits in the central part of the island, and the south coast is a drive away that we cannot put a figure on from the sources we hold.3 If you want both, treat them as two separate mornings and give each its own plan.

Canggu: only the bigger listing

Canggu appears only in the larger listing, called Canggu and Uluwatu Puppy Yoga Class and Refreshing Drinks. It is a 1 hour class with an English-speaking instructor, and its reviews run to 1,008 at 4.84. It starts from $31.

Its rules are stricter in one respect. The listing says children under 16 cannot join a regular session and under 18 a rescue session. A family with a younger child will therefore need the Ubud and Uluwatu class instead. It also tells you not to bring your own puppy, since the puppies will already be on site.

It is the class that speaks most openly about where its puppies come from: animal protection associations or partner family breeders, being socialised before they move to their permanent families. We cannot verify that claim from here, but it is a statement you can ask the organiser to back up, which the Ubud and Uluwatu listing does not offer.

Choosing in order

From your bed to the right mat

  1. First

    Fix where you sleep

The class has to be reachable from there, so decide the base first.

  2. Second

    Read the age line

6 and up on one listing, under 16 excluded from a regular session on the other.

  3. Third

    Compare the fares

    From $40 against from $31.

  4. Fourth

    Read the origin line

One listing names its sources, the other gives only a shelter share.

  5. Last

    Hold the slot

Hold the slot now, pay afterwards, and cancel free until 24 hours ahead.

Getting to the right town

From the airport, Indonesia Travel says a prepaid cab to Ubud is an option but the fee may be quite high, with regular taxis, rental cars and buses as the alternatives.4 Inside Ubud the guidance is to walk or hire a bicycle or motorbike.1 If you take a class in Uluwatu or Canggu, work out the ride before you book, because the exact address is revealed late.

A good habit is to book the class last. First settle where you sleep, then see which meeting point is realistic from there, then book. The cancellation terms, a full refund up to 24 hours ahead on both listings, mean a wrong guess costs nothing if you act early.

Remember the early arrival too. The Ubud and Uluwatu listing asks guests to turn up 15 minutes before the start, so build that into the transfer. A late taxi on a morning when the puppies are at their calmest is the commonest way to waste a good ticket.

Before you pick

A checklist for picking a town

Settle this first3

  • Where you sleep and how you will get to the venue
  • The ages of everyone coming
  • The last day to cancel free

What the listing should state3

  • The meeting point name
  • The line about where the puppies come from
  • The starting fare and the review count

Shape the morning2

  • An arrival 15 minutes before the start
  • Clothes for the weather if it is outdoors

What stays the same wherever you go

Whichever town you pick, the format is the same: a class of 1 hour with an English-speaking instructor, led by someone who keeps the yoga gentle and the animals in view. On both listings cancelling is free until 24 hours ahead, and a slot can be held now and paid for afterwards.

What changes is the surroundings, the crowd and the small print. An open venue in one town and a studio in another will feel different on the day, and the exact address of each arrives late, so ask the organiser how the space is laid out and where the puppies rest between rounds.

That is the question this whole guide keeps returning to. A class that answers it clearly, in the listing or by message, is a class worth considering, in whichever town it happens to meet.

Putting the three side by side

If you sleep in Ubud and have a family, the Ubud and Uluwatu class is the straightforward answer. It has a meeting point in your town, it welcomes children aged 6 and up and it can be held and paid for later.

If you sleep in Canggu and everyone in your group meets its age rule, the larger listing is the easier fit. It starts from a lower fare, it shows more reviews and it describes its puppies' origin in more detail than we can for ours. Its higher score is a sign of how it is received, and not a guarantee for your session.

If you sleep in Uluwatu, you can use either. Read the age rule, the meeting-point description and the origin line, then pick the one whose answers you like best. The quiz at the top of the page walks through those questions in two taps.
